TRM development in the distribution center of a UK-based retail
wine distributor, with VR and automation interfaces.
Modules: WM, TRM, HUM, SD, transportation with 4.7.
Tools: ABAP, TRM automation interface Psion voice recognition
middleware.
A new distribution center for retail wine distribution, mostly internet and
periodical-based direct sales. Psion voice recognition terminals
and middleware were used to create wave-based optimal trolley
tours, in which pickers pushed a cart with up to a dozen cartons
into which orders were picked via voice instructions. Deliveries
were transferred to an automated conveyor system by Univeyor,
with pick-to-light features, palletizers and automated shipment
creation. I architected the system, designed the protocols to
use with the Psion middleware and the Univeyor control systems,
wrote all the code and documented the system, with training for
the technical support personnel. Work was done remotely with a
some site visits.
